Health Ministry seeking to hire 100 foreign healthcare professionals

The Health Ministry is seeking 100 foreign healthcare professionals for technical vacancies in the health sector.

An announcement issued by the Health Ministry said it was recruiting 25 specialist doctors, 50 foreign nurses, and 25 medical officers.

Radiologist: 9
Anesthetist: 6
Internal Medicine: 4
Gynecologist: 3
Pediatrician:3

Doctors will be paid MVR 30,990 as basic salary, MVR 7,000 as accommodation allowance, and MVR 2,400 as food allowance.

Nurses will be paid a basic salary of MVR 9,060, a service allowance of MVR 120 per day, and MVR 4,800 for accommodation and food allowance.

Medical officers will be paid a basic salary of MVR 15,090, a service allowance of MVR 275 per day, an accommodation allowance of MVR 3,000, and a food allowance of MVR 1,800.

The Health Ministry is also seeking to hire a foreign biomedical engineer and three laboratory technicians.

The deadline for applications is 1300 hrs on June 2.

The government has been criticized on social media for announcing the recruitment of 100 foreigners as health professionals. Critics say it is unfair to hire foreigners when some local health graduates have not been employed.
