The design and construction of hospitals in four islands have been contracted to an Indian company.
The design and construction of Ha. Atoll Hospital in Dhidhdhoo, Dh. Atoll Hospital in Kudahuvadhoo, Ga. Atoll Hospital in Vilingili and R. Alifushi Hospital was awarded to Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (TCIL) at a ceremony held at the Health Ministry on Monday. TCIL's Executive Director Atul Kumar Jain signed the agreement on behalf of the company, while State Minister Ahmed Adil signed on behalf of the Health Ministry.
The value of the hospital project is USD 57.2 million. The project will be financed through a credit scheme from Indian Exim Bank.
Under the project, 50-bed modern hospitals will be built in Villingili, Dhidhdhoo and Kudahuvadhoo, while a 30-bed hospital will be built in Alifushi.
The design of the hospitals awarded to TCIL today was previously awarded to a local company. The Health Ministry did not say why TCIL was later awarded the contract.
