Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the contract to construct the main waste transfer center for the northern islands in HDh. Kunburudhoo.
The agreement was signed by Environment Ministry's Deputy Minister Mohamed Ansar, while COO Shahid Hussain Moosa signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
The waste transfer station plays an important role in collecting and disposing of waste. Waste generated in Ha., HDh., and Sh. atoll will be collected and disposed of at the Kumburudhoo center.
In addition to constructing the waste transfer station, MTCC will also install a drainage system and facilitate easy access to the island.
MTCC said an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) would be conducted to assess the potential environmental damage associated with the project before the project is implemented.
The project is expected to be completed within 140 days. The cost of the work is MVR 7.6 million.
