Prosecutor General Hussian Shameem has deactivated his account on the popular social media platform Twitter.
Shameem did not say why he deactivated his Twitter account. However, the move comes while several media have been publishing different allegations regarding the PG, accusations that he has denied.
Rumors that Shameem had committed a serious criminal offense coincided with the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Parliamentary Group's decision to move a no-confidence motion against him. However, Maldives Police Service has also confirmed that there was no active criminal investigation into Shameem.
Shameem has been an active Twitter user and has spoken out regarding several issues using the platform. He has a follower base of 34,000 on Twitter.
