Private airline Manta Air is adding two more seaplanes to its fleet to further expand its seaplane operations.
A Manta Air official said the airline is bringing two twin-otter DHC 6300 aircraft from Canada. The airline hopes to bring both aircraft to the Maldives before the end of this month.
The official said seaplane operation is being expanded to provide quality services to meet demand. Manta Air has also indicated that more aircraft will be added to its seaplane fleet later this year.
Manta Air currently operates three ATR 72 aircraft and 11 seaplanes for domestic flights.
Manta Air's first aircraft was brought to the Maldives in November 2018. The airline launched flights on February 24, 2019, with the arrival of a second aircraft.
Manta Airlines, the newest domestic airline in the Maldives, now operates flights from Velana International Airport to Dharavandhoo, Kudahuvadhoo, and Addu City.
