A large amount of liquor has been seized in police operations carried out in three islands.
The raids were carried out in three islands where colorful Eid celebrations are ongoing. They are K. Himmafushi, K. Maafushi, and Ga. Villingili.
In the operation carried out in Himmafushi, 71 bottles of liquor were found in a search near a cafe' on the island early Sunday morning. In Ga.Villingili, an abandoned house in the reclaimed area of the island was searched, and six cans of beer were found on the property. However, no arrests have been made in either case.
A 33-year-old man was arrested in a drug operation in Maafushi island on July 7. Police recovered 58 rubber packets containing suspected drugs and a small plastic bag containing suspected drugs during a search of his residence under a court order. The suspect was produced before the Maafushi Magistrate's Court and was remanded in custody for 15 days.
The police are investigating the cases further.
