The Attorney General's Office has sent a list of bills to be introduced in this year's third session of the Parliament to the President's Office. The Attorney General's Office said the list of bills, consisting of 30 bills, was sent to the President's Office on Wednesday.
The bills include a bill on amendments to the Tourism Act, the Tax Act, the Judges Act, the Criminal Procedure Act, the Penal Code, the Transfer of Legal Aid in Criminal Cases Act, the Drugs Act, the Gang-related Crimes Act, Act on Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects, and the Anti-terrorism Act.
Furthermore, amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act, the Maldives Health Services Bill, the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act, Income Tax Act are among the bills for the new Parliament session. Bills on Hajj and Umrah, Zakat, Foreign Investment, Safety of Work Environment, Health Protection Bill, and Industrial Relations Bill are also included.
The Parliament will also work on amendments to the Family Act, Domestic Violence Act, the Disability Act, Sports Act, and the Evidence Act. Bills on Maldives Media and Broadcasting Authority, Compensation for Damages, the Legal Professions Act, the Legal Aid Bill, and the Ports Management Bill will also be debated.
