JSC signs MoU with India's Law and Justice Ministry

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the Ministry of Law and Justice of India have signed an MoU.

JSC President Hisan Hussain signed the agreement on behalf of the JSC at a ceremony held at the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) on Tuesday. Indian Ambassador to the Maldives, Shri Munu Mahawar, signed the document on behalf of the Indian government.

Earlier in 2020, an MoU was signed between the JSC and the National Judicial Academy of India to train judges.

The JSC said the MoU signed on Tuesday will provide various opportunities for professional training and experience enhancement to many persons working in the judicial sector of the Maldives.

At the ceremony, Hisan thanked the Government of India for the opportunities and assistance provided to strengthen the Maldivian judiciary. She assured that the JSC would give its full cooperation in implementing the provisions of the newly-signed MoU.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Shri Munu Mahawar assured that India would continue to assist in enhancing and strengthening the Maldives' judiciary.
