The construction of 12 classrooms in S. Hithadhoo School has been contracted to a party.
The contract was awarded to Nooraddin Investment Private Limited at a ceremony held at the Education Ministry on Thursday. The contractor is expected to complete the project within one year at a cost of MVR 10.9 million.
Speaking at the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Congress held earlier this month, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali said 135 classrooms and 15 multipurpose halls were constructed during the tenure of former President Abdulla Yameen. Comparing the five-year government of President Yameen with the four years of the current government, the minister said MVR 941.4 million was spent on PSIP projects during the tenure of President Yameen, while the current government has already spent MVR 1.3 billion on such projects.
