STELCO cuts off power to FAM House

The State Electric Company (STELCO) has cut off the power to the FAM Building, which houses the office of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

According to STELCO, the building's power was cut over non-payment of bills to STELCO, totaling over MVR 6.5 million. STELCO said the utility company repeatedly asked FAM to clear due bills or propose a payment plan, but the bills remain unpaid.

Stelco is also considering cutting off electricity services to other buildings under the FAM if the bills are not paid.

The FAM has not paid pending payments to many companies, as well as national team players and clubs.
