Japan gov't to provide MVR 2.6 mln for Himmafushi health center development

The Japanese government will be providing $174,230 --about MVR 2.6 million -- for the development of the Himmafushi Health Centre.

The agreement was signed by the Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Midori Takeuchi and K. Himmafushi Health Center's Senior Administrator of Health Services, Abdulla Shafeeu.

The assistance is provided under Japan's Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme. The assistance will provide funding to develop an emergency room, a laboratory, an X-ray room, and two patient care rooms at the Himmafushi Health Centre. The project will also facilitate the provision of laboratory and radiology services at the health center.

The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) run by the Japanese Embassy in the Maldives to empower people.
