The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking a party to operate ferries between Male' City and the picnic island being developed in K. Kudagiri lagoon.
As per President Ibrahim Mohamed SOlih's presidential pledge, a picnic island for residents of Male' City is being developed in the Kudagiri lagoon. The Planning Ministry awarded the development of the picnic island to MTCC last year. The work was awarded to be completed in 150 days at a cost of MVR 41.4 million.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking four ferry boats to operate daily ferry services between Male' and Kudagiri. They are two ferries with a capacity of 50 to 70 passengers and two ferries with a capacity of 80 to 100 passengers.
The ferry service hours were also announced by HDC. Ferries will depart from Male' at 6:30 am, 6:50 am, and 7:10 am and from Kudagiri at 5:20, 5:40 and 6:00 pm.
Those interested in operating ferry services between Male and Kudagiri have been asked to submit their applications before 11:00 am on December 7.
The government targeted to open Kudagiri on this year's Independence Day, marked on July 16. However, the picnic island could not be opened on schedule.
