Maldives grabs spot as world's most 'welcoming' country

The Maldives has topped CNN's "World's Most 'Welcoming' Countries" list.

CNN's list of the easiest countries to travel includes 34 countries, with 23 topping the list. In addition to the Maldives, Qatar, Angola, Bolivia, Somalia, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo were listed among the easiest countries to travel to.

Countries with on-arrival visas and free visa agreements are considered easy to travel to. Similar criteria were considered in compiling CNN's list. In addition, the list also took into account the safety of tourist destinations in the countries. North Korea, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan were listed among the most difficult countries to visit.

The Maldives is a top tourist destination and has won the World's Leading Destination award at the World Travel Awards (WTA) for three consecutive years. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) also won this year's World Leading Tourist Board award.
