MIRA collects MVR 4.2 bln as Income Tax

The state collected MVR 4.2 billion in income tax as of November 30 this year.

According to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), income tax accounted for 21.9 percent of the revenue collected by the end of November.

Income tax on companies and non-individuals stood at MVR 2 billion, while withholding tax on non-residents stood at MVR 974.2 million. Income tax on individuals stood at MVR 302.5 million, while bank income tax collection stood at MVR 901.2 million.

According to MIRA data, MVR 19.4 billion was collected by MIRA as of the end of November. This included US$754.9 million collected in dollars.

The revenue collected by MIRA in November this year increased by 20.4 percent over the same month last year. The reasons for the increase in revenue included higher revenue from income tax, airport development fee, departure tax, TGST, and green tax.
