Aboobakuru Faisal, the suspect accused of killing Nishama Mohamed, 28, has passed away.
Faisal, 32, of Rosie Villa, ADh. Fenfushi was arrested in Kulhudhuffushi on August 10 after his wife, Nishama Mohamed, was found dead in her room in Nolhivaram earlier the same afternoon. Faisal attempted suicide six days ago while in the holding cell at Kulhudhuffushi Police Station. He died while being treated at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital at 8:28 am today.
According to sources, there were no visible external injuries on Nishama's body, except for some signs of injury to her neck. The police have decided to conduct a post-mortem on her body to determine the cause of death. However, while over a week has passed since her death, the body has still not been sent abroad to conduct the autopsy.
Nishama's family learned of her death when they went to her room in search of her when the family failed to contact either Nishama or Faisal by phone after Faisal posted photos of Nishama without her hijab on his Facebook page. The family opened the room by breaking the door. Faisal was in Kulhudhuffushi City when the news of Nishama's death became public. Police arrested Faisal after he handed himself over to the police.
Faisal worked as a technician at the Nolhivaram Fenaka Office. He had three children with Nishama.
