Fish exports decline in November

The Maldives' fish exports declined in November compared to the same period last year.

According to the Maldives Customs Service and the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Maldives exported 65,392.5 metric tonnes of fish from January to November this year. The Maldives exported 69,113.9 metric tonnes of fish during the same period last year.

Among fresh and frozen fish, skipjack tuna accounted for the highest percentage of exports. This year, 46,812 metric tonnes of skipjack tuna have been exported thus far this year. A further 7,869 metric tonnes of fish were exported in canned and poached form.

The international market price of skipjack tuna was MVR 24.4 per kg in November this year. In November last year, the figure stood at MVR 24.7.
