Flights increased by 18 percent at the end of November: MMA

The number of flights to the Maldives as of the end of November last year increased by 18 percent over the same period in 2021.

According to the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), 13,707 international flights arrived in the Maldives from January to November last year. During the same period in 2021, 11,355 flights arrived in the tourism-dependent archipelago.

Including both scheduled and cargo flights, 11,783 flights landed in the Maldives at the end of November last year. In 2021, the number will be 9,164 during the same period.

While the number of scheduled flights increased among international flights, the number of chartered flights and private jet flights were lower in the same period last year than in 2021. There were 1,924 private jets and chartered flights at the end of November last year, while there were 2,191 private jets and charter flights during the same period in 2021.
