President of the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and candidate in the party's upcoming presidential primary, Mohamed Nasheed, has opened a campaign office on the largest island in Maldives' north, HDh. Kulhudhuffushi.
The office in Kulhudhuffushi City was opened by President Nasheed at a special ceremony held in the city on Saturday.
President Nasheed traveled to Kulhudhuffushi to meet with his supporters ahead of the MDP presidential primary scheduled for January 28. He went door to door to some houses and personally met with some people. He also hoisted an MDP flag at the MDP 'Holhuashi' area in Kulhudhuffushi.
After concluding his visit to Kulhudhuffushi, Nasheed is now visiting islands in the Shaviyani atoll.
The MDP presidential primary is being contested by Nasheed and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Both are confident that they will win the election and move on to the Presidential Election on the party's ticket.
