Nasheed calls for the release of observers and supporters

The main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s President and candidate in the party's presidential primary, Mohamed Nasheed, has called for the release of his observers and supporters arrested during the primary.

The police confirmed that three people had been arrested in connection with clashes that took place at a polling station in GDh. Thinadhoo. Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla, who has been at the forefront of President Nasheed's campaign, shared the names of two observers and a representative arrested by the police.

In a tweet posted this evening, Nasheed called for the release of his representatives and supporters.

"I call for their immediate release and to take action against those who disrupt the vote," he said.
