First Lady conferred highest honours by World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

The Asia Pacific Region, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts honoured First Lady and Chief Guide Fazna Ahmed with the most prestigious individual supporters award, the Asia Pacific Region Appreciation Award. The honour was presented to her during Maldives Girl Guides Association's Annual General Meeting 2022, held today at The Customs Building.

The First Lady received the award in honour of her immense contributions to the girl guide movement. This is the first time the award has been bestowed upon a Maldivian.

At the ceremony, the Asia Pacific Area Appreciation Award were also presented to four organisations and five individuals in the philanthropic category. The First Lady presented certificates to the recipients of warrant certificates. The Girl Guide Association's commissioner certificates, service awards, and appreciation awards were presented by the Chief Commissioner, Niumaath Shafeeg.

In addition to two recipients of the Maldives Girl Guide Association's Appreciation Award, 75 people who have served from five to thirty years received honours during the ceremony. At the meeting, the annual report, financial report, and the AGM for 2022 were also approved.
