Saaid wins two gold medals at Indian Grand Prix

Local star athlete, Hassan Saaid, has won two gold medals in the Indian Grand Prix.

Last year's best athlete of the Maldivs, Saaid, won the gold medals in the 100m and 200m events. Saaid, who has set several 100m records in the Maldives and South Asia, finished the 100m in 10.67 seconds. He finished the 200m in 21.66 seconds.

Last year's best female athlete, Aiminath Jaisha Juneez, also won a bronze medal at the tournament. Jaisha won the bronze medal in the women's 800m race. Jaisha finished the race in two minutes and 29.33 seconds.

Saaid and Jaisha, who were named the best male and female athletes of the year in athletics at the Maldives Sports Awards last Friday night, are currently training in Bangalore, India, on a scholarship from the Indian High Commission for the national athletics team.

The Indian Grand Prix is scheduled to run until the 27th of this month. All the athletes except Rifa Mohamed of the Maldives athletics team will compete in the tournament.
