Gang violence suspect surrenders to police

A suspect being sought by the police over involvement in a gang violence case has handed himself over to the police after evading authorities for over a month.

The police sought to arrest Ibrahim Faih Nizam, 25, of Rahdhebaige, S. Maradhoo Feydhoo, and publicly announced to locate him on February 15. The police website did not provide any information about the alleged assault regarding which he was being sought. However, AVAS has learned that he was wanted in relation to a case where a man was assaulted inside a Male' City cafe' on January 14 this year.

Faih surrendered himself to police after five people were arrested on charges of hiding him. However, two of them have been released by the court.
