Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has departed to the United States on an official visit.
Speaker Nasheed is traveling to the US to attend the 10th Vulnerable 20 (V20) Financial Staff Meeting, which is being held in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Climate Vulnerable Forum, from 12 to 17 this month.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of Ghana, who chairs the V20 Group, sent a letter of special invitation to Nasheed to attend the meeting. The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) is responsible for all expenses of the visit.
The theme of the meeting is "From Accra to Marrakesh: Advocating Fit-for-Climate Financial Architecture and Development-Positive Climate Action". Nasheed is scheduled to meet with officials from the IMF, World Bank, and CVF.
