New ICU opens in Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital

The Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital has opened its new Intensive Care Unit (ICU), replacing the previous three-bed ICU with a modern six-bed facility.

The new ICU is located in the newly constructed three-story Kaani Wing building and was inaugurated by President's Office Minister Ali Shiyam on Thursday.

Kulhudhuffushi sHospital's CEO, Ahmed Dawud, said the new ICU is a spacious facility equipped with modern facilities. The facility is designed to be the most suitable for patients and hospital staff, he said.

Although the beds in the former ICU were placed together, the current facility will provide isolated treatment, he said. In addition, the new ICU can accommodate dialysis treatment, he said.

In addition to the new ICU, the Kaani Wing building features a 15-bed pediatric ward and a 15-bed medical ward, providing additional medical facilities for the region. The new ICU and associated medical facilities represent a significant improvement in the capabilities of the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
