Regional Airports partners with Kulhudhuffushi City Council to develop tourism zone

The Regional Airports Company Limited has signed an agreement with the Kulhudhuffushi City Council to develop a tourism zone in Kulhudhuffushi.

The agreement was signed by Mayor Mohamed Athif on behalf of the Kulhudhuffushi City Council, and Managing Director Ahmed Mubeen on behalf of Regional Airports.

Regional Airports said the focus of this partnership is the development of a tourism zone situated in the mangrove area north of Kulhudhuffushi Airport, with the objective of raising funds for the project.

According to Regional Airports, the decision to carry out such a project was taken because the land is currently unused for any purpose and it is in the best interest of the people of Kulhudhuffushi to develop it profitably. The project will further promote Kulhudhuffushi in the global tourism market, he said.

According to Regional Airports, the tourism initiative is anticipated to boost flight frequencies to Kulhudhuffushi Airport, generating more employment opportunities within the city.

Regional Airports is among the companies receiving substantial investment from the government budget, Regional Airports aims to achieve financial independence and profitability within the next three years.
