Three foreigners have been arrested for the possession of alcohol.
According to the police, the three Indian nationals, identified as Chotelal, 38, Thangaruj, 35, and Sivanandan Chinna Thanbi, 30, were found in possession of 23 bottles of alcohol while they traveled on an MTCC bus. The suspects, all three of whom are employed at Maldives Gas, were apprehended at 3:15 pm on Friday.
Two of the suspects have been remanded in custody for 15 days and the other for five days.
Drug and alcohol possession is becoming common in the city area and the increasing involvement of foreigners in such cases has become a significant concern.
