Police have seized bottles that are suspected to be alcohol and large amounts of money from an expatriate.
The police said Friday that they seized bottles that are suspected to be alcohol from a 55-year-old Indian national. He was stopped due to suspicious behaviour after he was seen driving a bicycle the wrong way on a one-way street. After taking him to the police station, the police found ten bottles that seem to be alcohol and large amounts of money in a bag in the basket of his bicycle. However, the police did not reveal the exact amount of money he was possessing
The police further revealed that he was having a valid work permit. The matter is being investigated by the police.
Alcohol is not allowed on residential islands in the Maldives.
