The government aims to complete the projects ongoing in the islands before the people go to the polls on September 9, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.
President Solih's government has made a presidential promise to provide water and sewerage services to all islands in the country during the first five years of his government.
During his visit to Faafu Atoll, where he inaugurated a new FENAKA power plant, office building, and ice plant in Feeali, President Solih emphasized the government's commitment to completing essential projects in the islands, particularly those related to establishing basic services.
"Currently, 68 new FENAKA offices have been completed, and 48 power plants have been opened by the utility company," he said.
The president, who is seeking re-election in the September polls, said that by July or August of this year, water and sewerage systems would be operational in many islands as well as new power plants being in service. He assured that 28 FENAKA powerplants would be opened by then, in addition to water and sewerage systems being completed in 122 islands.
