Corrections threatens actions against those spreading false info regarding officers

The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has threatened to take action against those who propagate false information about their officers.

In a statement released Friday, MCS expressed concern over a recent trend of sharing photos and names of its employees on social media platforms. The statement said these posts often contain baseless accusations, defamatory remarks, and intimidating threats against its officers.

The statement further said the dissemination of inaccurate information fosters distrust among the public in officers' efforts to fulfill their legal responsibilities and duties.

"Such actions create a sense of threat and insecurity among our staff," Corrections said.

The statement urged those involved in spreading false information about MCS officers to cease such activities.
