The Parliament has adjourned for recess following the conclusion of its second session.
Speaker Mohamed Nasheed announced the conclusion of the session after the completion of debates regarding the appointment of members to parliamentary committees. The second session of the Parliament ended despite the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) requesting an extension of the session to address pending parliamentary matters of significance.

No-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla
No-confidence motion against Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath
No-confidence motion in Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid
The second session of the Parliament commenced on May 18 this year, comprising a total of 14 parliamentary sessions. Following the recess, the third session of the Parliament will commence in August.
