Linking of two Komandoos to reach completion by the end of the month

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said the efforts to link Shaviyani Komandoo and Mathi Komandoo will be completed by the end of this month as part of a broader effort to expand the land area of Komandoo Island.

President Solih, who is seeking re-election, is currently on a campaign tour to Shaviyani atoll. His first stop was at Komandoo island, where he addressed the island's residents and made several pledges.

Speaking to the people, President Solih said the process of linking the two Komandoos would commence on July 10, with a newly acquired dredger currently stationed in HA. Ihavandhoo, which is set to be deployed to Komandoo after completing its ongoing dredging work.

“This month will end with the land between the two Komandoos being dredged as we promised,” the President said.

The President further said efforts will be initiated to establish essential services in Mathi Komandoo once the two Komandoos are successfully linked. To address the housing crisis faced by the people of Komandoo, he pledged the construction of 300 housing units within the next five years. Additionally, the President pledged to transform the existing health center on the island into a 30-bed hospital, aiming to enhance the healthcare facilities available in Komandoo.

President Solih highlighted that over 90 percent of the promises made during his 2018 presidential campaign have either been fulfilled or are currently in progress, showcasing his commitment to delivering on his pledges.
