Single-round victory possible with hard work: Pres Solih

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih expressed confidence in the upcoming presidential election, stating that a single-round victory is achievable with a strong campaign.

As the incumbent and the Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) presidential candidate, President Solih actively engaged in a door-to-door campaign in Male' City on Wednesday.

During a press briefing following the event, President Solih emphasized his commitment to replicating the results of the previous election and said he could already envision a similar outcome.

In the 2018 election, President Solih secured an impressive 58.4 percent of the votes, amounting to 134,128 votes. His opponent, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, received 41.6 percent, equivalent to 95,631 votes.

President Solih said the same results could be replicated through concerted efforts aimed at effectively communicating the government's achievements to the public. He acknowledged that some were attempting to mislead the people and stressed the importance of clarifying the progress made during the past five years, along with the challenges overcome.

"Our task today is to effectively communicate the achievements of the previous administration, the strategies employed, and the obstacles we overcame," President Solih emphasized.
