President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Kinbidhoo MP Mohamed Nashiz as his election agent.
According to the General Elections Act, every presidential candidate must appoint an official election agent before running for election. In this regard, President Solih, who is seeking re-election in the September election, appointed Nashiz as his election agent. The criminal records of Presiden Solih and Nashiz are currently being cleared.
Nashiz was also the President's campaign manager in the MDP presidential primary held in January.
President Solih's campaign is ongoing at full swing, with him having already visited 30 islands on campaign tours. However, he is yet to announce his running mate. Incumbent Vice President Faisal Naseem and MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Mohamed Aslam have expressed interest in becoming the President's running mate. Faisal had worked very hard in the last presidential election as President Solih's running mate. He is also the longest-serving Vice President under the current Green Constitution.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 9 this year. If a second round of voting is required, the vote will be held on September 30.
