Pres Solih vows dignified living conditions for all residents

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vowed to ensure dignified living conditions for all residents.

Speaking at a campaign event at Gaafu Alifu Kondey on Thursday, President Solih said his policies are aimed at increasing opportunities for a dignified life and providing the people with the services they need.

"Our policy is to ensure unhindered intangible participation equally for all. To provide the people with quality services without them having to go through any difficulty," he said.

Highlighting ongoing efforts, the President pointed out that allowances for people with disabilities have already been increased during his tenure. He also highlighted the success of the Disability Management and Rehabilitation Center in Hulhumale, which has provided over 6,500 therapeutic sessions thus far.

The president also noted that the Maldives had made progress by participating in the Paralympic and Special Olympics, achieving good medals at these events.

The President further said his "island-style Maldives" manifesto's policy was to provide essential services to the people without discrimination. He noted that Kondey Island, with its vast potential for development, has seen the establishment of essential services during his tenure.

Noting that the Kondey Island Council opened applications for land from Kondey to all Maldivian citizens, the president commended the initiative and expressed gratitude to the council. He emphasized that the council's decision was made with a forward-looking perspective for the island's future.

President Solih pledged to expand Kondey's harbor for increased accessibility and to address housing issues by constructing housing units on the island. He also promised the construction of a football stadium, providing a platform for the island's youth.
