"A PPM gov't will cover the expenses of bone marrow transplants"

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the PPM-PNC presidential candidate, has announced that if a PPM government comes into power, it will cover the expenses of bone marrow transplants. He made this statement during a campaign event in Haa Alifu Utheemu on Monday.

Speaking at the event, Muizzu highlighted the prevalence of thalassemia among children in the Maldives and emphasized the importance of making bone marrow transplants more accessible for these children.

“Hopefully, we will establish a system where the government will provide free bone marrow transplants,” Muizzu said.

During the tenure of former President Abdullah Yameen, some children benefited from bone marrow transplants sponsored by the Zakat Fund. Acknowledging the significant challenges faced by families with children affected by thalassemia, Muizzu stressed that a sustainable approach to facilitating transplants under strong policies was necessary.

Regarding Utheemu, Muizzu noted that a large number of people, including state officials, frequently visit the island due to its history. He proposed the construction of a state house on the island if the residents desired, as part of the PPM government's commitment.

Muizzu also pledged to solve the erosion and accessibility issues faced by the island and to construct the island's major roads. He urged the island's residents to support him by casting their votes for him in the upcoming presidential election.
