"Unprecedented development projects underway in the atolls"

There are unprecedented projects underway to develop the country’s islands, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.

Speaking at a campaign event at AA. Thoddoo today, President Solih, who is seeking re-election, said he witnessed significant transformations in every island he visited. He asserted that if he was re-elected for another term in office, he would revolutionalize the entire country, further stressing his commitment to delivering on his pledges.

"Major projects are underway to develop islands in ways that have not been done [before]. Our promises are not just words; they are fulfilled commitments," he said.

The President said the main-ruling MDP's primary vision is to create a joyful and peaceful Maldives for the people. While significant efforts are underway to realize this vision, more plans are in place for the second term, he added.

In line with this vision, President Soluh revealed plans to establish a dedicated bank to provide funds for housing construction. He further revealed that the grace period for higher education loans will be extended, and the introduction of in-home therapy for individuals with disabilities.

The president also pledged to establish daycare services in different parts of the country. ICT hubs will be established in all parts of the country, and micro-financing will be made easily available to new entrepreneurs, he added.

President Solih further said the Thoddoo council office would soon announce allocating 200 plots of land from the island for island residents. He pledged to build a mosque, a new council building, and a social center on the island. He also said six classrooms will be added to the island's school, in addition to a science lab and library.
