Dr. Muizzu pledges hajj facilitation for 1000 impoverished individuals

The Progressive Congress Coalition's presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has pledged to facilitate the Hajj pilgrimage for 1,000 impoverished individuals if he is elected to office.

Muizzu made the pledge at a campaign event held at M. Mulaku on Friday. However, he did not provide further details on the pledge.

Muizzu said the government will strengthen the administration of the Hajj Corporation and reduce the cost of going to Hajj. He confidently asserted that cost reductions could be realized within the initial year of his term.

Muizzu has also announced his intention to strengthen the Zakat Fund and establish a separate dedicated agency called Maldives Zakat House to ensure Zakat funds are utilized in the best manner.

Muizzu also made vows relating to the fishing sector. In this regard, he pledged to make A-grade fish accessible at MVR 100 per kilogram and reduce the cost of oil. However, he again did not disclose details of how he planned to achieve the vision.

In addition to these commitments, Dr. Muizzu outlined his determination to expedite the completion of the Meemu airport and create a link between Muli and Naalaafushi islands via a causeway. He also made numerous other pledges to develop Meemu Atoll.
