K. Guraidhoo witnessed clashes between opposing PPM-PNC and MDP supporters ahead of a campaign visit by PPM-PNC's presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The dispute erupted as MDP supporters confronted a group of PPM supporters gathered at the island's harbor to welcome Dr. Muizzu on Saturday.
While the initial disruptions were strong verbal exchanges, they soon escalated to physical altercations, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the clashes.
Muizzu arrived in Guraidhoo at 6:45 pm after the clashes were brought under control.
