The PPM-PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has made a commitment to expand the jurisdiction of Gadhdhoo island to include Gaafu Dhaalu Gan island.
Speaking at a campaign event held at Gadhdhoo on Sunday, Dr. Muizzu stated that the people of Gadhdhoo have long desired the inclusion of Gan as part of their island. He asserted that if elected to office, this aspiration would become a reality.
Muizzu further said his party's leader, former President Abdulla Yameen, implemented various projects targeted at island development during his administration. However, he expressed concern over the delay and stagnation of these projects under the current administration. He vowed to work tirelessly to fulfill the people's expectations, underscoring the commitment of the entire PPM and PNC leadership.
Muizzu said Gan would become the economic hub of Gadhdhoo, and the entire atoll would benefit from it. He said the PPM-PNC leadership is ready to bring back the revolutionary development seen in the country under President Yameen's leadership.
Muizzu also committed to effectively addressing the housing problem in Gadhdhoo. He also pledged to build a modern hospital and expand surfing tourism on the island, ensuring direct economic gains for the people. Additionally, he expressed his intention to establish a resort near Gadhdhoo to enhance economic empowerment.
