The PPM-PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has emphasized his commitment to appointing individuals with honesty, sincerity, and accountability to government positions.
Speaking at a campaign event at Galolhu Kammathi in Male' City on Sunday, Dr. Muizzu said individuals who cannot demonstrate sincerity and accountability to the people have no place in his administration. He pledged to operate with transparency, providing comprehensive details on government projects and maintaining a similar practice throughout the government's functioning.
“If you are unwilling to be accountable, you cannot remain in their positions,” Muizzu said.
Muizzu also outlined his policy regarding the independence of state institutions and appointments to them. In his administration, the institutions will not be independent merely in name; they will possess the authority stipulated by law and the opportunity to function accordingly, he said.
Dr. Muizzu further said he would recommend appointments to state-owned institutions based on candidates' knowledge and experience. He would not influence the Parliament to decide in a specific manner, he said.
“I will send a merit-based list to parliament,” he said.
Muizzu has previously said that his government will assemble a cabinet with people whom the people of Maldives will be proud of. He has also said that he would bring true independence to the judiciary.
