The PPM-PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has pledged to initiate the construction of a bridge connecting Hulhumeedhoo and Hithadhoo within the first year if elected as President.
Meeting supporters in Addu City Feydhoo on Wednesday, Dr. Muizzu answered some questions raised by attendees. In response to a question, Dr. Muizzu said the work preceding the bridge work would begin soon after assuming office. Detailed plans for the bridge will be developed, and information on feasibility will be shared with the public, he said.
“The hope and the aim is to start the initial work in the earliest days [of assuming power], possibly even in the first week,” Muizzu said.
Dr. Muizzu also expressed confidence in the feasibility of connecting Hulhumeedhoo and Hithadhoo and said he already had ideas for achieving this goal.
Muizzu has previously made a similar commitment to connect Thinadhoo and Kaadedhdhoo.
