Campaigning for Maldives' Presidential Election concludes

The exciting campaign for the second round of the presidential election of the presidential election in the Maldives has officially come to a close.

This year's presidential election marks the fourth election held since the adoption of the current Green Constitution.

Eight candidates competed in the first round of the presidential campaign, including five from political parties and three independent candidates. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the candidate for the PPM-PNC coalition, emerged as the leading contender in the first round, securing 46 percent of the votes. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, running for re-election under the MDP banner, came in second place with 39 percent of the votes.

This evening, both candidates began their closing campaign activity with a march in Male' City. While President Solih ended the march at the Usfasgandu area, Dr. Muizzu concluded at Artficial Beach. Both candidates offered a special prayer to end their campaign.

The second round of voting is scheduled to take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm tomorrow.
