Pres Solih stresses high voter turnout as key to victory

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is seeking re-election and contesting PPM-PNC candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in the second round of the Maldives presidential election, has emphasized the importance of a high voter turnout.

After casting his vote at a polling station at Thaajuddin School, President Solih expressed confidence in his chances of winning the election. He stated that his campaign team had re-strategized between the first and second rounds and executed their campaign accordingly.

Acknowledging his second-place finish in the first round, President Solih attributed it to a low voter turnout. He emphasized that a higher voter turnout would increase his chances of victory.

The President said he did not know the exact percentage he would get from the election. But if as many people as possible go to the polls, he said he would win the election by a large percentage. President Solih added that He hopes for at least an 88 percent voter turnout, higher than the expected 86 percent.

President Solih also addressed rumors circulating on social media about the MDP, assuring the party had not violated any laws.
