No agreement with The Democrats to join incoming gov't: PPM-PNC

The PPM-PNC leadership has said there have been no official discussions or agreements to include The Democrats in President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's incoming administration.

The statement comes in response to a tweet by The Democrats' Founder and Henveiru West MP, Hassan Latheef, claiming that The Democrats would be part of Dr. Muizzu's administration. However, no specific details were provided.

Some PPM-PNC officials confirmed to AVAS that Democrats had no agreements with the PPM-PNC.

"I don't know how to participate in a government without an agreement. I don't understand. The Democrats didn't support any candidate even when requested to support our candidate in the second round of the presidential election. Therefore, without an agreement, I cannot think of any reason why The Democrats would be a part of the incoming administration of Dr. Muizzu," a PPM official said on the condition of anonymity.

The official said Dr. Muizzu has the full power and authority to form the incoming administration. Therefore, he said Muizzu will decide who will be given government jobs.

The Democrats secured a third-place finish in the recent presidential election.
