The People's National Congress Party (PNC) has appointed President-Elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as the party's President.
Since the formation of the PNC, former Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdullah, who is in charge of running the PPM-PMC Progressive Congress coalition, has been PNC's President.
The PNC Senate meeting held Wednesday night unanimously approved the changes in the party's leadership positions, including Dr. Muizzu's appointment as the PNC President and Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef as the Vice-President of the PNC. Former PNC President Abdul Raheem has been appointed for the party's newly formed Chairperson position.
The PNC has not yet announced further details of the changes in its leadership positions.
The PNC was registered in the register of political parties maintained by the Election Commission on January 31, 2019, and currently has 3,159 members. Dr. Muizzu and Hussain Mohamed Lateef were elected President and Vice-President in the recent presidential election on the PNC presidential ticket.
