Former Baarah MP Shujau to vie for parliamentary seat in upcoming elections

Former Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau has announced his intention to contest the same parliamentary seat in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Shujau announced in a post on social media on Friday that he will contest the Baarah constituency on the PPM-PNC ticket.

“My sincere request is that you will support and cooperate with me in this endeavor,” he wrote.

Shujau was the Member of Parliament for Baarah constituency in the 18th Parliament. He also contested the 2019 parliamentary elections for the same seat, though without success.

Shujau, the current Vice President of PNC, is also the councilor representing Hulhumale in the Male' City Council. Several other councilors in the Male City Council are also announcing their candidacies for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The PPM-PNC parliamentary primary is scheduled to be held on January 20 next year. The upcoming parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in late March or early April next year. The Election Commission (EC) is expected to announce the final election date on November 5.
