Pres Dr. Muizzu predicts PPM-PNC victory with 62 parliamentary seats

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed optimism about the PPM-PNC's success in the upcoming parliamentary primary.

Speaking to reporters after voting in the PPM-PNC parliamentary primary, President Dr. Muizzu predicted that the coalition would win 62 seats in the parliamentary election. He emphasized the government's commitment to earning the trust of the people and prioritizing their rights.

"We have the sincere intention of wanting to serve the people. So, I believe the people will accept us. That is why we are saying that we will win at least 62 seats," he said.

The president called on all coalition members to support the winning candidates and underscored the importance of working together for the benefit of the country. He went on to state that he believed the primary would be fair despite clashes in some areas.

Addressing allegations of fraud in some constituencies, he reassured the public that such incidents had not occurred and pledged to investigate any complaints.

The PPM-PNC primaries were held today for 73 constituencies where more than one candidate applied. A total of 283 candidates contested the primary. A total of 277 ballot boxes were set up to cater to 71,597 eligible voters.

The parliamentary election is slated to take place on March 17, during the first week of Ramadan.
