Ex-VP Adeeb relocates to Singapore

Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has moved to Singapore after performing an Umrah.\

Adeeb left the Maldives on November 16, shortly after then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pardoned his 20-year jail sentence on a corruption conviction. While the location where he traveled was unknown at the time, close associates later revealed he first traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform an Umrah before heading to Singapore. Sources say he has now settled in Singapore.

Adeeb was in jail and under house arrest since October 2015 in connection with the MMPRC graft until the commutation of his sentence. Adeeb was sentenced to 20 years on October 5, 2020. Even while he was serving his sentence, Adeeb recently traveled to Singapore on medical furlough and stayed there for over a month.
