Resort occupancy rate improves in October

The occupancy rates of resorts in the Maldives saw an increase from September to October this year, as reported by the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)

According to MMA data, the resort occupancy rate rose from 51 percent in September to 61.5 percent in October. However, the October figure falls short by 10.7 percent compared to the same period last year when the occupancy rate stood at 72.2 percent.

Occupancy rates of guesthouses, hotels, and safari vessels also increased in October compared to September. Guesthouse occupancy increased from 37.6 percent in September to 39.2 percent in October. Similarly, hotels experienced a rise from 30 percent in September to 34.3 percent in October. The occupancy rate of safaris also increased from 19.8 percent in September to 23.6 percent in October.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 159,141 tourists visited the Maldives in October.
