Maldives clinches World's Leading Destination Award for fourth consecutive year

The Maldives has won the prestigious title of World's Leading Destination for the fourth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards (WTA).

The awards ceremony, described as the "Oscars" of tourism, was held at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai on Friday. In addition to the World's Leading Destination Awards, the Maldives also clinched the WTA Global Tourism Resilience Award 2023 at the ceremony.

Furthermore, seven Maldivian resorts in the country also received awards:

World's Leading Private Island Resort 2023 - Velaa Private Island
World's Leading Water Villa Resort 2023 - Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa
World's Most Romantic Resort 2023 - Baros Maldives

In addition, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was recognized as the world's most popular tourism board. This is the second consecutive year that the corporation has won the award.
